BPS Teacher cadet Program

The BPS Teacher Cadet Program (TC) is a district wide enrichment and initiative program that cultivates high school students as part of BPS’s unique “grow your own '' model of teacher preparation, the BPS Teacher Pipeline Programs. TC’s goal is to cultivate future educators and leaders who work to decolonize the mind, uplift the spirit, and move critically throughout the world.

Bilingual Educators / Accelerated Community to Teacher (BE-ACTT) Programs

We believe that the next generation of BPS teachers are in our classrooms or are in the homes and in community organizations in the City of Boston right now. We are committed to developing programs that provide multiple access points to prepare our next generation of educators.

The BPS Bilingual Education/Accelerated Community to Teacher (BE/ACTT) Program is part of an overarching strategy to increase the number of top teachers in the district who reflect the racial, cultural and linguistic diversity of our students and our community.

It takes ONLY 12 months and at NO COST to you to become an equity-minded, highly qualified, and licensed teacher (and SEI-endorsed)  in Boston Public Schools in the most progressive, innovative, and accessible program for paraprofessionals and career-changers.

2024 COHORT APPLICATION IS NOW LIVE!

You do not need to be bilingual to join our program! We have a pathway for BOTH bilingual educators and monolingual educators.

BPS Teaching Fellowship

The BPS Teaching Fellowship (BPSTF) is a year-long, practicum-based program that provides individualized, intensive coaching to early career teachers as they complete their CAP portfolio for Initial Licensure. BPSTF is the only free district-based, multigenerational, “grow your own,” DESE-approved educator preparation program in Massachusetts.

Throughout the year, Fellows engage in coursework centered on racial literacy and culturally affirming pedagogy and practices while imbuing these frameworks and strategies into the curriculum they currently teach.  Fellows also receive on-the-job coaching from doctorate level educators.

While BPS teachers of record in need of initial licensure endorsement in Moderate Disabilities or ESL are encouraged to apply, many of our candidates are cultivated as they complete their pre-practicum portfolio in our Bilingual Education/Accelerated Community to Teacher (BE/ACTT) Program.
