The BPS Teacher Cadet Program (TC) is a district wide enrichment and initiative program that cultivates high school students as part of BPS’s unique “grow your own '' model of teacher preparation, the BPS Teacher Pipeline Programs. TC’s goal is to cultivate future educators and leaders who work to decolonize the mind, uplift the spirit, and move critically throughout the world.

Students engage in building these skills through our various curriculums, including our core Critical Thinking course, in tandem with:

  • Political Science

  • Civic Engagement

  • Mentor Development

  • College Readiness

These spaces are led by our 2 college intern teams, Civil Engagement and College Readiness. These spaces serve the purpose of both providing knowledge and insight to our students, as well as honing the skills of our alumni/interns as classroom educators as they create lesson plans and syllabi, develop assessments and learn from student feedback, and receive mentorship from program directors and affiliated stakeholders.

The program engages students in weekly sessions, 1-on-1 mentoring, student-led affinity spaces, career exploration, start to finish college enrollment support, paid internships and professional development opportunities, hands on working experience in education, summer academy and much more.
